How many connections can you really fit into an adapter the size of a snus tin? Teknikveckan tested the Satechi OntheGo 7-in-1 Multiport Adapter, and the result is positive. The compact adapter is praised for its small size, its many connections and the ability to attach magnetically to the back of a phone.
Small, but full of connections
The first thing Teknikveckan highlights is the size. OntheGo 7-in-1 is roughly the same size as a snus tin and weighs only 96 grams. Despite that, it includes HDMI with support for 4K at 60 Hz, Ethernet, two USB-A ports, USB-C for power delivery, and card readers for SD and microSD.

In the test, the adapter is used, among other things, to transfer photos from a DSLR camera to an iPhone or iPad. The memory card is recognized immediately, and the files can be opened in Photos or Files for further editing. Transferring video material to a Mac also works without problems.
The magnetic mount makes a difference
One detail that is especially appreciated is the magnets on the back of the adapter. They let OntheGo attach to MagSafe- or Qi2-compatible phones instead of hanging loose from the cable.

For devices without a magnetic mount, an adhesive magnetic ring is included. Teknikveckan thinks the solution is practical, especially when the adapter is used with a phone out in the field.
Some compromises in materials and cable
The low weight also has a downside. Because the adapter is largely made of plastic, the reviewer does not quite feel the same quality as with some other Satechi products.
Teknikveckan would also have liked a longer or extendable USB-C cable. The reviewer would also have preferred more USB-C ports instead of the two USB-A connections. However, these are wishes rather than issues that affected performance during the test.
Teknikveckan’s overall verdict
Teknikveckan gives the Satechi OntheGo 7-in-1 a score of 8 out of 10. Above all, it is appreciated how many connections fit into the small format and how smoothly the magnetic mount works with a phone.
For anyone who photographs, works with files while traveling, or occasionally needs to connect an external display or network cable, the adapter is a practical accessory. Despite some compromises in material choice, Teknikveckan describes a product that works without problems and is highly useful in everyday life.
